DLR-TUBSAT was launched on May 26, 1998 on a Indian PSLV-C2 rocket as a secondary payload into a sun synchronous orbit (altitude 726km, inclination 98.38deg) together with KITSAT-3. The primary payload was the IRS-P4 satellite. The development of the DLR-TUBSAT was a joint project of TU Berlin and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). The satellite was designed for interactive earth observation where the target is not identified in advance and a search action is involved or the selected target has to be visually followed.
