Description

Within the SALSAT (Spectrum Analysis SATellite) project a small satellite based on the TUBiX10 satellite bus will be designed and launched. The satellite hosts thee payloads. The Main payload is a previously developed spectrum analyzer.  It is based on a software defined radio (SDR) and will be tested for the first time in orbit on the SALSAT mission. The aim is to analyze amateur radio frequencies in the UHF, VHF and S band range for their use and interference. The two secondary payloads consist of a camera and a novel actuator for position control.

Within this thesis, the secondary payload, the camera, is to be integrated into the satellite bus. This should be done on the basis of a "system on module" computer. In particular, software components for the payload based on Linux and RODOS have to be developed for this purpose. In addition,  the preparation and execution of functional and performance tests is to be done.

Required profile:

  • Basic knowledge of the space environment and its influences on satellite software
  • Good programming skills in C++
  • Good proficiency in using the Linux Operating System
  • Good German and/or English skills
